If you haven’t already heard, there’s a new model Hilux in town which now features V-Active Technology. Today we’re going to deep dive into what V-Active Technology is, its capabilities as well as new features that are now available on the Hilux Range.

What is V-Active Technology?
It’s available across the SR & SR5 4x4 double cab ranges and is essentially a motor-generator system that sits high on the engine bay for successful and safe water crossings when you are off-road.
V-Active is made up of a motor generator, a 48-volt battery and a DC to DC charger system to the tried and true 2.8L turbo diesel HiLux motor. These components are there to assist with engine performance and it even regenerates through deceleration, which means lower fuel consumption when you’re in stop-start traffic.
When it comes to wiring components, Toyota has designed the V-Active (48-volt) wiring to follow a path high up in the body of the vehicle. This is to minimize any harm that can ever be caused when you're on your off-roading adventures.
What other features do I get with a Hilux V-Active?

One of the main features of the Hilux V-Active is the auto-stop feature, which is selectable and can be turned on or off. Auto stop is designed to save your fuel consumption in stop-start situations like urban driving or traffic-dense areas.
Tell me about Multi-Terrain Select…
For all the 4WD’ers reading you’ll know how important a feature like Multi-Terrain Select can be when you’re off-roading. And the good news is that the Hilux V-Active now comes with this feature, which allows for 4 different modes of off-road driving.
Essentially, you now have an automatic system that will adjust to the terrain that you're on OR you can manually select your mode which includes sand, mud or rock, depending on the terrain.
If you're in a high rain situation, Multi-Terrain Select also offers an additional setting of deep snow, which is very handy for alpine conditions and conveniently for very soft sand. So not only does the Hilux V-Active enhances your fuel consumption for a saving of up to 10%* but it also reduces noise, vibration and harshness for smoother drive on the road.
