10 Best Scenic Drives from Sunshine Toyota Currimundi

Posted in Explore Adventure

One of the best parts about living on the Sunshine Coast is that a stunning drive is never far away. Whether you’re chasing ocean views, winding hinterland roads, or a weekend adventure, there’s a route to suit every mood. Starting from Sunshine Toyota in Currimundi, here are 10 of our favourite scenic drives.

1. Caloundra Coastal Drive

Just minutes from the dealership, head into Caloundra and follow the coastline. You’ll pass Kings Beach, Shelly Beach, and Moffat Beach, each with their own character and charm. It’s a short but beautiful drive with plenty of chances to stop for a swim, grab a coffee, or simply enjoy the views from the headlands. If you want to grab some great photos of your new Toyota near the water, we recommend the Kings Beach Boat Ramp, a favourite spot of ours (and don't forget to share your pics with us on Instagram @sunshinetoyotaau)

Route: Currimundi → Kings Beach → Shelly Beach → Moffat Beach

Time: ~30 mins round trip (longer with stops)

  • Stop for coffee: Coffee Cat on Kings Beach (great beach views)
  • Things to do: Walk the Caloundra Coastal Boardwalk or dip your toes in at Shelly Beach
  • Treat stop: Grab fish & chips or gelato at Moffat Beach

Perfect for a short afternoon cruise or sunset drive.

2. Maleny & Montville Hinterland Loop

Turn inland and climb into the hinterland, where winding roads take you past lush rainforest and sweeping views of the Glass House Mountains. Stop in Montville for boutique shopping and Maleny for cheese, chocolate, or a local craft beer. This loop offers the perfect balance of scenery and foodie delights.

Route: Currimundi → Landsborough → Maleny → Montville → Palmwoods → back to Currimundi

Time: ~2.5–3 hrs round trip (without stops)

  • Stop for food: Maleny Cheese or Maleny Food Co. (ice cream is a must) or the Vietnamese Bakery in Maleny (a personal favourite of ours)
  • Things to do: Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve for rainforest walks and Glass House views
  • Browse: Montville’s main street, which is full of boutique shops and art galleries

An ideal full-day trip with foodie stops and breathtaking hinterland scenery.

3. Glass House Mountains Circuit

For iconic Sunshine Coast scenery, take the tourist drive around the Glass House Mountains. Pull over at the lookout for a panoramic view of the ancient volcanic peaks known as the Glasshouse Mountains (they’re especially magical at sunrise or sunset). If you’re up for stretching your legs, add in one of the short walking tracks.
