Everything We Know (So Far) About the All-New 2026 Toyota RAV4

The all-new 2026 Toyota RAV4 has officially been revealed and as expected, it’s a big deal. As Australia’s favourite SUV, the RAV4 is set for a serious glow-up, and we’ve got all the latest details for you here.

First Things First – It’s 100% Hybrid

Just like the outgoing model, the next-generation RAV4 will be fully electrified, no petrol-only versions here. Buyers will be able to choose between:

• Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV): Toyota’s fifth-gen hybrid setup, available in 2WD and AWD across the range for a smooth mix of power and efficiency. Both 2WD and AWD hybrids produce a combined 143kW.
• Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV): A first for Toyota in Australia. Available in GR Sport AWD and XSE (2WD or AWD), the PHEV pairs a 2.5-litre engine with a 22.7 kWh battery. Power outputs: 200kW (2WD) or 227kW (AWD), making this the most powerful RAV4 ever.

Fresh New Colours

The new RAV4 palette introduces Massive Grey, Urban Rock, Feverish Red, Dusty Bronze and Daintree Green. Popular favourites like Glacier White, Frosted White, Eclipse Black, Atomic Rush and Saturn Blue remain, while the XSE grade adds two-tone options pairing a black roof with Frosted White, Dusty Bronze, Massive Grey or Saturn Blue.

Cruiser grades will also offer an optional Neutral Beige interior, alongside black.

Inside the Cabin: A Next-Gen Experience

The cabin has been completely modernised, with standout features including:

• A 12.3" digital instrument cluster as standard, with higher PHEV grades (XSE & GR Sport) offering a 12.9" centre touchscreen with crisp graphics and customisable layouts. GX models feature a 10.5" multimedia touchscreen, while Edge and above get the 12.9".
• Toyota’s new Arene software platform delivers faster response times, smarter voice control and seamless over-the-air updates.
• The RAV4 also debuts Toyota’s new Embedded Drive Record system, which uses onboard cameras as a dashcam and allows you to save clips directly.
• A decluttered, minimalist dash design with fewer physical buttons and sleek touch panels.

Smarter Safety & Tech

The upgraded Toyota Safety Sense package on the next-gen RAV4 will now include:

• Front Cross Traffic Alert
• Improved Lane Trace Assist
• An enhanced Pre-Collision System (now detecting bicycles, motorcycles and obstacles)
• Upgraded Blind Spot Monitor

Connectivity also steps up across the range, with wireless Apple CarPlay® & Android Auto™ as standard, multiple USB ports, and premium options available on some models like wireless charging, JBL audio, panoramic monitoring and a digital rearview mirror.

Adopting Toyota’s hammerhead design language, the 2026 RAV4 has a sharper, more assertive profile.

• The front end boasts a larger grille and angular headlights for a commanding presence.

• XSE – Sporty styling with heated & ventilated seats, moonroof, suede trim, memory driver’s seat and 20" black alloys. XSE PHEV adds water-repellent glass, larger disc brakes and the 1500W inverter.
• Cruiser – Premium touches like JBL 9-speaker audio, panoramic roof, leather-accented seats, dual wireless charging, digital rearview mirror, heads-up display and high-grade LED headlamps. Cruiser now confirmed with shift-by-wire shifter and kick-sensor powered tailgate.
