I recently took the Toyota bZ4X home for an extended test drive to see how it would fit into everyday life and I was genuinely impressed.
On my daily commute from Maroochydore to Coromandi, the bZ4X used just 5% of its battery. Around town, it handled errands, grocery runs, and even takeaway lunch with ease. By the end of the day, an overnight charge had it back to 100%, ready for the next day.
Over the weekend, the family packed up for a barbecue at Bribie Island with friends. Even with the air conditioner running and a fully loaded car, it only used 20% of its battery to get there from Maroochydore.
Later, we drove to Northgate and back to the Sunshine Coast with a stop at Maroochydore for sushi. Starting with a full charge, we covered hundreds of kilometres and returned home with 40% battery left, plenty available for the next day’s activities.
With a full charge, the range meter shows 450km. Initially, I was a bit nervous about charging, but it quickly became second nature. Overnight charging is convenient and ensures the car is always ready to go.
The bZ4X is incredibly roomy inside. With three kids in the back, there were no complaints about legroom, and the boot easily fit everything we needed for the weekend. Despite its size, the car fits comfortably in the garage alongside our Fortuner.
The bZ4X drives beautifully — smooth, easy to manoeuvre, and quick off the mark. It looks and feels stunning, yet it’s simple to use.
If you’re thinking about going electric, I highly recommend taking the bZ4X for an extended test drive. It’s the best way to experience how seamlessly an electric vehicle can fit into everyday life.
